LAKE COUNTY, Calif. — Lake County Public Services will host a free compost giveaway.
The giveaway will begin on Sept. 14 and continue until the supply is gone.
Compost will be available at the following locations:
• Upper Lake County Park parking lot, 615 E. Highway 20, Upper Lake; • Lakeside Park, 1985 Park Drive, Kelseyville; • Trailside Park parking lot, 21044 Dry Creek Cutoff, Middletown.
Come and load up free compost to use in your garden.
The limit is one cubic yard per household.
Benefits of compost use in your garden include improved plant growth, nutrition and health, increased plant rooting depth, improved physical, biological, and chemical soil properties, reduced erosion, water conservation and sequestration of carbon caused by greenhouse gas emissions.
Quackenbush Resource Co. has generously donated the organic compost for the giveaway.
