UPPER LAKE, Calif. – As the full consolidation of Upper Lake's elementary and high school districts moves closer to being completed, the board of the new Upper Lake Unified School District – which ultimately will absorb the two older districts – is set to discuss making two school principal appointments.
The board will meet for a 4 p.m. closed session before the regular public session at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 8, in the library/student center at Upper Lake High School, 675 Clover Valley Road.
Documents and background information for agenda items are available to the public at http://www.boarddocs.com/ca/ulusd/Board.nsf/Public .
Two key items on the agenda are the proposed hirings of the middle school and high school principal jobs.
Don Boyd, who now serves as assistant superintendent of the Upper Lake Union High School District, is proposed as the principal of Upper Lake Middle School.
Sandy Coatney, currently Upper Lake High's vice principal and dean of students, is proposed to be the new principal of the high school – a job that Patrick Iaccino has held concurrently with that district's superintendent's job.
If approved, both hirings would take effect July 1, the day after the separate elementary and high school districts formally dissolve and the unification becomes final.
In other business, the board will consider accepting an organization chart that will establish the new district's management and directors.
The board also will receive reports from Business Manager Sue Milhaupt and Iaccino, who continue to fulfill their jobs in the Upper Lake Union High School District while working for the new district.
