KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – A boating accident that occurred on Saturday afternoon led to injuries for two people and the search for a third person.
Shortly before 2:30 p.m. Central Dispatch started fire units – including the Northshore Dive Team – to Braito's Marina in Buckingham on the report of a capsized boat nearby.
The initial dispatch reported that two people were injured and in the water, with a third person having disappeared.
Responding agencies included Kelseyville Fire, Lakeport Fire, Northshore Fire, Cal Fire and the Lake County Sheriff's Marine Patrol, according to radio reports.
As the two injured people were removed from the water, Cal Fire's Copter 104 responded to assist with the search for a 70-year-old man who had not been wearing a life jacket and was last seen just north of Anderson Island, based on reports from the scene.
A REACH air ambulance set down at around 3 p.m. at a landing zone set up at Buckingham Golf Course to pick up one of the injured boaters, radio reports indicated. About 20 minutes later the helicopter lifted off for Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.
Radio reports indicated a second patient was taken by ground ambulance to Sutter Lakeside Hospital.
Shortly before 3:30 p.m., Copter 104 and Cal Fire units were released from the scene, and incident command was terminated just before 3:45 p.m.
Just after 5 p.m., the search for the missing man was continuing, Kelseyville Fire officials confirmed to Lake County News.
Lake County News attempted to contact Sheriff's Marine Patrol staff on Saturday regarding the search status but could not reach anyone.
Additional details will be posted as they become available.
