LAKEPORT, Calif. – Firefighters from multiple agencies are working a fire in a senior apartment complex in Lakeport.
The fire in the Lakeview Housing senior apartments complex, located at 525 Bevins St., was first reported just after 5:30 p.m. Sunday.
Initial reports indicated the fire began in a unit due to an oxygen tank that caught fire.
Lakeport Fire, Lake County Fire, Northshore Fire, Kelseyville Fire and Cal Fire are among the agencies on scene.
Lake County Sheriff's deputies also are assisting with clearing the building, according to radio reports.
There are reported to be multiple patients, primarily with smoke inhalation.
At 6:20 p.m. the fire was reported to be out, with room-to-room searches continuing to ensure all residents and their have evacuated.
Local hospitals had been notified of the potential for numerous patients being transported to their facilities, according to radio reports.
Just before 6:30 p.m., an air ambulance was dispatched to Sutter Lakeside Hospital to pick up one patient.
At about the same time, one ambulance was reported to be taking two patients to the hospital.
Shortly after 6:30 p.m., incident command reported that all patients had been transported or were about to be transported to the hospital in Lakeport.
The Lakeport Police Department said that as of 6:30 p.m. Bevins Street from Bevins Court to Martin Street would be closed for several hours.
