LAKE COUNTY, Calif. — Fireworks will light up the skies this week in Lake County as part of the annual Independence Day holiday.
Several fireworks displays are planned from Thursday through the weekend in Clearlake, Clearlake Oaks and Lakeport.
Besides the public displays, only in the city of Lakeport are safe and sane fireworks allowed to be purchased and used through the end of July 4.
The following is a schedule of the planned fireworks displays.
THURSDAY, JULY 4
Lakeport
Lakeport will celebrate July 4 with a day of events that begin at 11 a.m. and continue until 10 p.m.
The annual event will include a street fair, and food and craft vendors.
There will be fireworks over the lake beginning at dusk.
Discharge of safe and sane fireworks will be permitted on Fourth Street's intersection with Park Street during the July 4 event. The location will be cordoned off by barrier tape but great caution still needs to be taken. Safe and sane fireworks are not allowed along the lakefront or parklands between Ninth Street and First Street, including all of both Library and Xabatin parks.
FRIDAY, JULY 5
Clearlake Oaks
The Maxine Sherman Memorial Annual Fireworks Display will take place on Friday, July 5.
It will be held between 9 and 10 p.m.
The fireworks will be launched from the lake at the Clearlake Oaks public launch ramp.
Lakeport
Big Valley Rancheria’s Konocti Vista Casino will hold its 30th anniversary fireworks display on Friday, July 5.
The event will be held on the hotel marina lawn.
Beginning at 6 p.m., there will be entertainment, food trucks and craft booths. There is no cover charge to attend and all ages are welcome.
The fireworks will start at approx. 9:45 p.m. over the lake and will be viewable from the marina as well as the parking lot.
Konocti Vista Casino is located at 2755 Mission Rancheria Road in Lakeport.
SATURDAY, JULY 6
Clearlake
The Lakeshore Lions Club of Clearlake will sponsor the 66th annual Redbud Parade and Festival.
The day begins at 11 a.m. with the parade starting at Redbud Park.
The festival includes vendors, food and entertainment throughout the day at Austin Park.
An annual highlight is the International Worm Races. That event is marking its 54th year.
The Lakeshore Lions Club will sponsor the firework display at dark off of Austin Beach.
