Michael William Schaffter II of Lucerne passed away unexpectedly on July 8, 2010.

 

Michael was born in Northridge, Calif., on Dec. 23, 1977. He moved to Lake County as a child and graduated from Upper Lake High School in 1995.

 

He married Laura Nicole Maxwell on May 17, 2003, and they had four children.

 

Michael was a cabinet maker by trade and a talented woodcrafter. He worked at various cabinet shops in Lake County since high school. He was very artistic and created some beautiful pieces of custom furniture. He enjoyed playing video games with his children and exploring the outdoors. He loved his family dearly.

 

Michael is survived by his wife Laura of Lucerne; children, Emma, daddy's princess, Nathan, Jaden and Kyle, daddy's boys; father, Michael William Schaffter (Darlene), Granada Hills; mother, Kathy Buter (Keith), Lucerne; grandmothers, Doris Schaffter, Granada Hills and Betty Steeber, Lucerne; siblings, Louie Love (Tara) of Oregon, Chad Love (Denise) of France, Leslie Miller (Dan) of Kelseyville, Crystal Schaffter of Nice and Kenny Schaffter of Granada Hills; best friend, Bob Becker, Kelseyville; in-laws, James and Gloria Maxwell, Lucerne; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

 

Per Michael's request there will be no services.

 

Michael leaves behind four very young children. Donations may be made to The Children of Michael Schaffter Memorial Fund c/o Gloria Maxwell at Westamerica Bank.

On Friday, June 25, 2010, Lillian Nylander, a longtime resident of Clearlake Oaks, Calif., passed away from complications of lymphoma cancer.


Her three children – Stan, Mike and Kathy – and four grandchildren – Travis, Nick, Jessie and Terra – survive her.


She was a wonderful caring mother, wife and the best grandmother ever. She loved her family, Giants baseball, beautiful flowers, sewing and Hawaii. Many will miss her.


There will be a memorial service for Lillian on Friday, July 9, 2010, at the United Methodist Church in Clearlake Oaks at 10:30 a.m.

KELSEYVILLE – Friends of the late June Murray are invited to join family members in a celebration of her life on Friday, July 2.


The celebration will be held at Riviera Heights Clubhouse at 2 p.m.


Dress is casual and refreshments will be served. The Riviera Heights Clubhouse is located at 3040 Riviera Heights Drive, off Soda Bay Road.


June Murray was a 17-year resident of Clear Lake Riviera.

Father Ted Oswald died on Sunday, July 4, 2010, at Sutter Lakeside Hospital in Lakeport, Calif. He was 65 years old.


He was born on March 21, 1945, in Minneapolis, Minn.


He was raised in San Jose, Calif., and attended St. Joseph’s Elementary School in San Jose from 1952 to 1959. For his first two years of high school he attended St. Francis High School in Mountain View California and for the next two years he attended the Marist High School Seminary, Peter Chanel in Berkeley, Calif., graduating in 1963.


He joined the U.S. Army and served until January 1970, spending a one-year tour of duty in Vietnam. He served in the Military Police as a patrol supervisor and later as an instructor at the Military Police School in Fort Gordon, Georgia. From 1971 to 1975 he served as a police officer in Rock Hill, South Carolina.


During his years in the U.S. Army and as a police officer he contemplated entering the priesthood. In 1976 he joined a group of Religious Brothers in Arizona and it was from that experience that he contacted the Diocese of Santa Rosa expressing his desire to be a priest.


He was accepted as a seminary candidate for the Diocese of Santa Rosa and entered St. Joseph College Seminary, Mountain View, Calif., to being his studies for the priesthood. By 1980 he was ready to enter the Major Seminary and was accepted by the Beda College in Rome, Italy.


In 1984 he competed his theology studies and on June 6, 1984 was ordained to the priesthood by His Eminence, William Cardinal Baum, at the Basilica of Saints Cosmos and Damian in Rome.


In the summer of 1983 Father Ted served as a transitional deacon at St. Joseph parish in Cotati. After his ordination to the priesthood his first priestly assignment was at St. Mary of the Angels in Ukiah from July 1984 to January 1988 as associate pastor.


For 10 months of 1988 he served as associate pastor at St. Rose parish in Santa Rosa. Then in October 1988 he was appointed as the administrator of St. Mary Immaculate parish in Lakeport. He was named pastor on August 15, 1989 and remained in that capacity until June of 2008.


A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 16, 2010, at 1 p.m. at St. Mary Immaculate Church, Lakeport, followed by the burial at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Lakeport.

James Dyment, 55, of Hidden Valley Lake, died June 25, 2010.


Mr. Dyment was born in Newport Beach, Calif. He graduated from high school and later served in the United States Air Force from 1973 to 1977.


He worked for many years at Agilent Technologies Inc. in San Jose and most recently in Santa Rosa.


Jim moved with his son to Hidden Valley Lake in 2000. He is survived by his wife, Anong, and his son, Michael Mann, son of Amber Mann.


Jim enjoyed golf, motorcycles and traveling. He will be missed greatly by his family and everyone who knew him.


A memorial and celebration of his life will be held on July 9 at 11 a.m. at the Bennett Valley Golf Course Clubhouse in Santa Rosa with lunch following.

Clyde Aldo Morrow, 76, passed away June 16, 2010, at his home in Upper Lake, after a short illness.


Clyde was born on Jan. 16, 1934, in Jay, Okla. He was the second oldest of four children.


In 1946, he moved to Lake County with his parents and brothers. Clyde graduated from Upper Lake High School in 1953. He served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1962 and the United States Coast Guard Reserve from 1971 to 1987. He was proud of his service to his country.


On June 1, 1960 he married Martha Rae Lane, and they recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They lived in Upper Lake and had three children.


Clyde was employed as a heavy equipment mechanic for Caltrans and retired after 31 years of service. There was nothing he couldn’t fix and he passed this knowledge and gift on to his son, Dan.


During his retired years, he enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow, surfing the Internet and gardening.


Clyde is survived by his wife, Martha, and three children: Dan Morrow, of Upper Lake, Calif.; Lisa (Matt) Fronsman, of Lakeport, Calif; and Mary (TJ) Maxwell, also of Upper Lake.


Additionally he is survived by his three grandchildren, Shannon Fronsman, and Amanda and Daniel Maxwell. He is further survived by his brother Ray (Cris) Morrow of Upper Lake, and numerous nieces and nephews whom he adored.


He was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Morrow, and his mother and father, Sidney and Lola Morrow.


A potluck memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 27, at his home, located at 885 E. Highway 20, Upper Lake. All are welcome to come and share laughs and stories of this most beloved man. A tree will be planted in his honor.


His family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Hospice Services of Lake County, 1701 S. Main St., Lakeport, CA 95453.
