LAKEPORT, Calif. – Robert R. “Bob” Memory, age 90, passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2016, in Lakeport.

A native of Lodi, Calif., Bob served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, being stationed in Burma, riding “Over the Hump” while serving with the 1880th Engineers Battalion. He was awarded the Good Conduct, WWII Victory, Asiatic Pacific Campaign, and European African Middle Eastern Campaign medals.

Upon discharge from the Army, he became employed by Piggly Wiggly Markets, which were later purchased by Safeway Stores.

While working in Ukiah, he met Elizabeth Lynch and they married on July 4, 1947. They were together for more than 65 wonderful years until her death in 2013.

While with Safeway, he worked in Ukiah, Eureka, Lakeport, and finally Clearlake. He was the manager of the Clearlake store from its opening in 1962 until his retirement in 1982.

During his retirement, he enjoyed many years traveling with his Lake County friends and family to locations throughout the western US.

Bob was also a longtime member of the Clearlake Lions and Clearlake Rotary.

Bob’s family wishes to thank the entire staff at Rocky Point Care Center for the excellent care he received during his stay. We wish to also thank the Salter family for their long and enduring friendship to both Bob and Betty for over 50 years.

Bob is survived by his daughter, Beverley (Michael) Love of San Mateo; granddaughter, April (Keith) Croce of Gilroy; grandson, Robert (Rolyn) Love of Daly City; great-granddaughters, Ashleigh, and Gabrielle; and great-grandson Landon.

Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife Elizabeth Memory and daughter Katherine Marie Memory.

Friends and family are warmly invited to attend graveside services to be held Friday, April 22, at Lower Lake Cemetery beginning at 1 p.m.
