No regular mail delivery, all post offices closed for National Day of Observance for President Jimmy Carter

CALIFORNIA — President Joseph R. Biden has declared Thursday, January 9, as a National Day of Mourning in remembrance of former President Jimmy Carter.

Out of respect for the 39th President of the United States and to honor his vast contributions to our country during his lifetime, and consistent with the Presidential Proclamation, the United States Postal Service will suspend regular mail deliveries, retail services and administrative office activity on Jan. 9.

“We will provide limited package delivery service on that day to ensure the organization does not experience any negative impacts to its package delivery operations,” the U.S. Postal Service reported.

Although there will be no regular mail service, Priority Mail Express is delivered 365 days a year and will be delivered on Jan. 9.

Normal delivery and collection schedules will resume Friday, Jan. 10.
